When, why and how much does it cost to switch to a business account on eBay?

1 min read

When it makes sense or is required to switch to a business account, and what it costs, is set by eBay: in Droopify the switch enables some features and changes how fees are calculated.

When to switch to a business account

You switch on eBay, not on Droopify. eBay may ask you to switch when your sales become frequent, and the rules vary by country: check eBay's help pages for your country. To understand whether your activity brings tax obligations, ask an accountant.

How much it costs to switch to a business account

Fees, any subscriptions and store costs on eBay are set by eBay and can change: check them on eBay's fee pages. Droopify does not charge anything extra for stores with a business account. When calculating prices, Droopify uses the eBay rates for the store's account type, so with a business account the selling price and profit can change.

What you get in Droopify with a business account

  • The Multi-purchase promotions and Discount code for all listings promotions in the Discounts & Promotions tab of the store settings.
  • The VAT (%) field when editing a draft, to calculate profit net of VAT.

What to do in Droopify after switching

  1. Complete the switch to business on eBay.
  2. On the eBay Stores page, check the Type column: Droopify reads the account type from eBay and updates it automatically.
  3. If you still see Private, click Edit on the store, open the General tab, set Account Type to Business and click Save Changes.

Droopify saves the new type only if it matches the one on eBay: if the switch on eBay is not complete yet, the type stays as before. After the change, the prices of the store's drafts and listings are recalculated with the new fees, and the update can take some time.
