Selling limits are a basic eBay rule that every new seller meets: this page explains what they are and how they behave.

## What selling limits are

eBay caps how much a store can sell **each month**. The cap has two parts:

| Limit | What it caps |
|---|---|
| **Quantity** | The number of items |
| **Value** | The total value of the items, which is the sum of their prices |

You reach the limit as soon as either part is full, even if the other still has room.

## What counts toward the limit

Both the listings that are currently active and the items you have already sold during the current month count. Listings with no end date count too. For this reason the limit can run out even if you have not published anything new today.

## Why eBay applies them

eBay uses limits to keep the platform safe and to check that a seller can handle orders correctly. They apply to every seller and are stricter for new stores or stores with low volumes. They have nothing to do with Droopify or with the supplier you use.

## Who sets them and how they grow

eBay assigns the limits and only eBay can change them. Each month eBay reviews the store and updates the limit based on sales volume and customer feedback, so these things help it grow:

- sales completed without issues;
- shipments delivered on time;
- positive feedback from customers.

You can also ask eBay for an increase: see [How can I increase my selling limits on eBay?](https://docs.droopify.co/en/how-can-i-increase-my-selling-limits-on-ebay). eBay decides if and by how much to raise it and may ask for contact or business details. Your account type (private or business) can also matter: see [Do I need a business account to sell on eBay with Droopify?](https://docs.droopify.co/en/to-sell-on-ebay-do-i-have-to-switch-to-a-business-account).

## Where you see them in Droopify

On the **eBay Stores** page, each store shows **LIMIT** and **USED** for **Stock Quantity** and **Stock Value**. The numbers come from eBay and Droopify keeps them updated: when eBay raises a limit, the new value appears on its own. See [eBay Stores](https://docs.droopify.co/en/ebay-account).

## What to do when you reach a limit

When **USED** gets to **LIMIT**, eBay does not accept more listings. You can:

1. wait for eBay to renew the monthly limit, after which you can publish again;
2. delete listings you do not need: active listings stop counting, but items already sold this month still count;
3. ask eBay for an increase.

> **Note**:
>
> The eBay limit is not the same as the products included in your Droopify plan (**Inventory capacity**). The first is raised on eBay, the second by changing plan: see [Plan and subscription](https://docs.droopify.co/en/subscription-and-plan).
