# Changing plan

> How to move to a larger or smaller Droopify plan from the plans page, what you pay, how to end the free trial and the possible errors.

From the plans page you move to a larger or smaller plan, or end the free trial.

## Before you start

- You need a valid payment method in the billing portal ([Profile & Billing](https://docs.droopify.co/en/profile-and-billing)).
- The new plan must have an **Inventory capacity** at least equal to the number of listings you have today.
- Plans, prices and limits are on the [Prices](https://docs.droopify.co/en/prices) page.

## Changing plan

1. In **Profile & Billing** click **Edit Subscription**, or open **{plan name} Plan** from the profile menu.
2. Pick the suggested plan, or another one from the **Choose Plan** menu. Your current plan shows **Current Plan**.
3. Click **Upgrade Plan**.
4. If your bank asks for it, confirm the payment with 3D Secure.

Once the change is applied, **The plan has been updated successfully.** appears and you go back to **Profile & Billing**.

## What you pay

| Case | What happens |
|---|---|
| **More expensive plan** | You pay the difference for the days left until renewal right away |
| **Cheaper plan** | The change is immediate and nothing is charged |
| **During the free trial** | The change is free: you pay the new plan when the trial ends |

## Monthly credits after the change

| Case | What happens to your **Monthly Credits** |
|---|---|
| **More expensive plan** | Once the payment goes through, you get the difference between the monthly credits of the new plan and those of the old one, added to the monthly credits you have left. The balance never goes above the monthly credits of the new plan |
| **Cheaper plan** | Your monthly credits do not change |

You get all the monthly credits of the new plan at the next renewal. Example: from a plan with 150 monthly credits to one with 300, with 0 monthly credits left, you get 150 credits right away and 300 at renewal. The recharge appears in the **Credits History** as **Plan Credits Recharge** ([Credits](https://docs.droopify.co/en/credits)). During the free trial the rules on the [Prices](https://docs.droopify.co/en/prices) page apply.

## Ending the free trial

During the free trial, on the plans page:

- **End Free Trial** ends the trial right away and starts paying for your current plan. **Your free trial has ended and your subscription is now active.** appears.
- For the larger plans the button becomes **End Trial & Upgrade**: the trial ends, you pay right away and move to the new plan.

## Possible errors

| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| **You cannot select a plan with an inventory limit lower than your current number of listings. Please reduce your inventory or choose a plan with a higher limit.** | Delete listings or choose a larger plan |
| **You don't have a valid payment method. Please add one from the billing portal and try again.** | Add a card from the billing portal |
| **The payment failed. Please check your card details or try a different payment method.** | Check the card or change it from the billing portal |
| **You have already selected this plan. Please choose a different plan to upgrade.** | Choose a plan different from your current one |
| **Payment received but we couldn't apply the plan change. Please contact support: it will be resolved manually.** | Contact support without paying again |
| **3D Secure authentication was not completed. Please try again to confirm your payment.** | The change did not happen: try again and complete your bank's confirmation |
